Biography
LACRIMOSA was established in November 1990 as an alternative band featuring rock music with poetrical lyrics, mixed with classical influences. Since over 35 years now the band releases their music through their own record label HALL OF SERMON. LACRIMOSA became a pioneer for several music styles, such as German Alternative and Symphonic-Metal! As the first independend band with german lyrics LACRIMOSA visited Mexico back in 1998, followed by South America, Russia and China. Meanwhile LACRIMOSA play concerts all over the world, worked with the world famous LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, and reached top placements in the charts in over 25 countries worldwide.

27th February 1993
Lacrimosa’s first concert at Werk II in Leipzig. In 1993, Lacrimosa played a total of 9 concerts, all of them in Germany.During the tour, Tilo Wolff meets the Finnish band Two Witches, in which a certain Anne Nurmi – a founding member of this cult band – plays the keyboard, amongst other things; the rest is history.

Satura

Schakal
Schakal is published. Schakal is the first track on which Anne can be heard.

Inferno & The Clips
Inferno is published. Lacrimosa release their first video tape, The Clips, featuring the legendary video for Satura – what a kiss.
Lacrimosa plays the first concert outside of Europe in Belgium. In total, there were 12 shows in 1995.

Stolzes Herz is published. In total, there were 6 shows in 1996.

The Silent Clips
1997 comes the second video tape, The Silent Clips
Also 1997, the biggest tour to date took place, comprising 28 concerts in 6 countries.

Live
The first Lacrimosa live album is released, Live. For many, it remains the best to this day! You can listen to the 1997 tour.

Alleine zu zweit & Elodia
The single Alleine zu zweit is being released and offers a taste of the ‘white’ album: Elodia
In 1999, the Elodia Tour took place, comprising 32 concerts in eight countries.

The Live History
To mark their 10th anniversary, Lacrimosa are releasing the DVD The Live History, featuring concert recordings from 1993 to 2000.
There are only two live performances; parts of the show in Leipzig (Wave-Gotik-Treffen) can be seen on the DVD The Live History.
Der Morgen danach, Fassade & Vintage ClassiX
2001 was a very productive year, with the release of the single Der Morgen danach. The album Fassade was released, as was the vinyl box set Vintage ClassiX (limited to 1,000 copies), featuring Elodia, Live, Fassade and B-sides.
The Fassade Tour 2001 comprises 30 concerts in 12 countries.

Lichtgestalt & Lichtgestalten & Musikkurzfilme
2005 was a year marked by light and shadow. Lacrimosa released the album Lichtgestalt and the EP Lichtgestalten; in addition, Musikkurzfilme features all the music videos released to date.
The tour, which takes place in the same year, comprises 29 shows in 10 countries

Lacrimosa are releasing the album Sehnsucht and the single Feuer. Who would have thought that one of the children you can hear on Feuer would one day be on stage with Lacrimosa?

Schakal, Avalon, Du bist alles was ich will
Anyone who can’t get enough of Schakal will have been delighted in 2024! Schakal 2024 features 13 versions of Schakal (7 studio versions and 6 live versions). With “Avalon” and “Du bist alles was ich will”, Lacrimosa released two singles which were made available on the well-known streaming services. What’s more, the cover art was generated using AI. (Just the cover art – don’t get the wrong idea!)
Lacrimosa was fully immersed in the Year of the Dragon, with eight concerts in the Zhongguo (China).

Dark is this night, Lament, Metamorphobia
After Lacrimosa released Elodia, which I consider the ‘white’ album, Lament followed as the ‘black’ album. Even before Lament, the third single, Dark is this night (an Anne song), was released on streaming services. During the Lament tour, Lacrimosa performed Metamorphobia, which was released as a single after the tour.
Lacrimosa played an incredible 50 shows in 12 countries.

Bis zum Schluss - Lacrimosa & Orchestra
After we were shocked in 2025 by the news that Anne was seriously ill – and the single “Bis zum Schluss” had us imagining the saddest possible scenarios – came the good news: Anne is back! She took to the stage again at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen and will also be performing with Lacrimosa at their concerts with orchestra in Mexico City and Berlin, as well as at Mera Luna.
Lacrimosa will perform 5 Shows in 2026, in Germany and Mexico.
We are not yet at the walls of Athens... the journey continues...
